Chris Yost On The Creative Process Of AVENGERS: EMH and the continuation of the series through the Comic

Chris Yost, the creative power behind the cancelled, awesome, Avengers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes animated series was interviewed by Alex Lynch, from Comicbookmovie.com, where he explained some of the creative process that went into the production of the 52 episodes hit series, by answering some interesting questions, such as, why the masters of Evil were chosen as the first “main” antagonist to face the heroes, where Yost answered: “ The ‘equal and opposite’ villains are always fun, and we’re able to mix and match. There’s a lot of fun to having Captain America fight Crimson Dynamo, Hawkeye battling Enchantress and the Wasp against Abomination. They’re match-ups you don’t see every day. Plus, we were able to really have fun with the villains themselves. Nothing’s better than a team willing to kill and double cross each other in the blink of an eye. It highlights why the Avengers work so well. It’s more than just heroes fighting together. It’s about trust.”

IGN Reviews The Avengers Earth’s Mightiest Heroes Season 2

Well, Avengers EMH is officially over. The second season was intense and made it even more difficult to accept that the series is over, IGN seems to share my view and awarded the second season an 8.4 and labeled it “Great”.

From IGN: ” Again, it was the emergence of the more relatively obscure and non-Avengers characters that made the early portion of Season 2 interesting. “Michael Korvac” and “The Ballad of Beta Ray Bill” were easily the highlights of the season prior to its first hiatus. The former introduced the Guardians of the Galaxy and offered a loose adaptation of what many consider to be one of the greatest Avengers conflicts of all time. As for the latter, few would argue that Walt Simonson’s Thor comics aren’t among the best in the character’s history. To see the early issues so faithfully adapted on the small screen was a real treat. Unfortunately, one of the most unfortunate results of the show’s cancellation was that the lingering threat of Surtur was never resolved.

S.H.I.E.L.D shooting date and new details revealed

Television Show Auditions, a website dedicated to, well, TV show auditions  revealed a shooting date for Marvel’s upcoming SHIELD TV series as well as some new details regarding Agent Coulson’s role in the series.

According to the site, SHIELD will start shooting this coming January. This means that, if ordered by ABC, the show can start showing as early as September 2013. Of course a plot does not guarantee that the network will order a first season. However, with Marvel’s the avengers becoming the 3rd highest grossing movie of all time, and with the show set in the same continuity, ABC would probably, not pass on the opportunity.

The second bit of information we got from the site, is how the show is described in the Audition Call sheets. Read the description below:

Clark Gregg is playing Agent Phil Coulson, the same role he has played in “Iron Man I & II,” “Thor,” and “The Avengers”. The series will center on his character. Screen Actors Guild Awards nominee Ming-Na Wen has been cast as as Agent Melinda May, an ace pilot and weapons expert.

Actress Ming Na joins S.H.I.E.L.D as Agent Melinda May

Ming-NaRoughly two weeks after Joss Whedon(Avengers director) and Kevin Feige(Marvel studios President), announced that Clark Gregg will reprise his role as Agent Coulson, in the SHIELD TV series, Deadline reports today a second, official, casting for the series.  According to the report, Asian actress Ming-na (known for her role as Chun-li in the 1994 street Fighter movie, as well as a more recent role in Stargate Universe and ER) will join the series as SHIELD agent Melinda May.

Deadline describes the role as: “Soulful and slightly damaged by her combat experiences, Melinda is an ace pilot, a weapons expert and a soldier who can — and has — gone beyond the call of duty. The character was originally listed on the pilot’s casting breakdown as Agent Althea Rice, aka The Calvary

With two casting news in less than two weeks, it sure seems that the series pilot is getting ready to be filmed. Let’s hope we hear more casting news soon! Oh– and we are still hoping that agent Quatermaine will be part of the series.

Recent reports from “insiders” state that Marvel will use the series to introduce Marvel Superheroes and villains to the MCU (Marvel cinematic Universe).

Fan’s outcry has been heard? Man of Action CONFIRMS that Avengers Assemble is a TRUE continuation of Avengers EMH !!!

Sure we all heard Mr Loeb mentioning it couple times, but we all doubted that Marvel’s upcoming Avengers Assemble animated series will be, really, a sequel to the soon to end, excellent, Avengers Earth Mightiest Heroes. However, it now seems that, as fans, we jumped the gun. Man of Action(Duncan Rouleau, Joe Casey, Joseph Kelly, and Steven T. Seagle), who have recently been revealed as the Executive producers for the upcoming show, confirmed that Avengers Assemble will not contradict Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, and while different in tone, it will serve as a TRUE continuation of the current show.

From Man Of Action: “It will continue much of what the movie started, it’ll be slightly different from Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. It’s really going to focus on the core characters… but it is not some kind of drastic change from Earth’s Mightiest Heroes into Marvel’s Avengers Assemble. Everything that’s established in [Earth’s Mightiest Heroes] and just running from that point on. It’s like Bendis’ Avengers going into Marvel NOW! Avengers… Everything that happened in Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, we’re going to keep consistency from that, to the new show.”
